I discovered you by accident just a few months ago, searching for New Orleans music on the web. I say "by accident", but it was quite possibly the best accident of my life!
Your music's opened up a completely new world to me.
Ah, I so wish you'd come over to the UK one day....
Love the website. Will be sure to come visit again soon!
Peace and good vibes to you

Grayson! have I done enough sh*t to stand out to you yet? I thought I made quite a scene at your last show here. Your schedule does not reflect that you're performing right this minute. I do understand that does't mean you're not busy. I'm reading Cannery Row. But I promise my story is as interesting. I wish I could talk openly but this is a small town and I don't want to end up under no BBQ grill. I've left contact info and an inquirey about a private party here at this site but haven't heard back yet. I'm just looking for some intelegent conversation, flop house experiance preffered. From what I've read you and I were doing the extention cord thing about the same time 1988-1990. Except I'm female and was 16 years old in 1989. That's impressive I know. But I can do you one better. In 1995 when I gave my heart to God I understood His word to say I should not cut my hair. And I didn't, none of it, for 3 years. I didn't care who knew I had hair under my arms and on my legs. Most people didn't know because of my long skirts to the floor and never anything sleeveless. Close friends said it was unsanitary but I sware Grayson I could in no wise wash the flesh/skin of my legs without washing the hair on them too. I have had running water scense I moved from the flop house and we had occasional access to water even them. There was a water hose by the Dog pen in the junk yard were me and my companion served as "watchgaurds" I'm no wash board Lisa but chances are I'll know were you're coming from and which direction to point you in. I've closed that good book, banking on I am he and he is me. I know your not the Christ. But you sure know how to bring the high low and the low high. I feel beautiful and clean at your feet. Thank you for doing my song even though it was late July. I heard alot of stuff I haven't heard before. How can you hold a man? Now if you ever need a backup singer who'll pay her own way, not meddle in $#!t, who can sing, shave or no

Been a long time fan, just got Rott N Roll, Stavin Chain, Songbones, and If you knew my mind. Now I just sit back close my eyes and
I am back in New O on the river walk with the sun coming up behind
the smoke stacks of the river boats. Love Song For Bobby Long calms
my everyday nerves and brings me back to the place where time stood
still in the 80's where all you worried about was getting enough money
up to drive from Mobile to N.O. for the weekend and back. cheap food, cheap booze, priceless times.

Hi Grayson,
I saw the great film, A Love Song for Bobby Long, on the telly and immediately had to track down the music. Reading the story behind the film and your connection to its realisation was an interesting read... and this lead to me listening to your music all day long :D Absolutely fantastic, should you ever play in Scandinavia I'll be there
Regards
P.S. I wish I could find the lyrics though...

We say your band last night at Harvest Moon in Albany, Ga, and we thought ya'll were AWESOME!! You even started playing at a decent time (It was around 9:30pm). We are use to the locals here waiting until about 11:00pm to start playing knowing they will be done by 1:30/2:00am. (and they take a couple of breaks in between) All of you are very talented and put on a GREAT show for us small towners. We really, really enjoyed watching and listening to all of you for the 4 1/2 hours we were there. We stayed until ya'll finished because we could not bring ourselves to leave because we enjoyed ya'll music so much! Hope you find your way back to Albany Ga and to "The Moon" (Harvest Moon-they are for sure the BEST place inAlbany Ga to go)again real soon. We bought one of your CD's but we will be purchasing the rest of them real soon. Thanks for making our night out such a good one. Look forward to seeing & listening to your music again real soon!

I have introduced your music to others who enjoy the likes of Townes, Tom Waitts, JJ, etc. I hope to see you in Manchester, CT this October.
P.S. I'm a "young" GRAND MAW MAW and a huge fan. Come to New England more often--I'll fill the house for you!

Anyone out there in the vacinity should come on out and work up a powerful sweat, come on over to d.b.a. early (please, do, remember to eat first) and check out the sumptuously, sultry Miss Ingrid Lucia. I promise you won't be disappointed, and if you are, I'll show ya where the phuckin' door is. For Those Who Ride the Dog
by Hardy Parkerson on April 2, 2005. © All rights reserved
Ain't doin' no good.
Wife's on my back.
Wants me to work in the yard,
And that's a fact.
I just gotta do it! I can't quit!
Just gotta do it! I gotta make it!
I gotta do better, it's plan to see;
Gotta read Boone Pickens' biography.
Don't know how long my kite's gonna fly;
I'm sure I'll make it bye and bye.
Sometimes I write poems on a whim.
And spend my time recitin' them.
I read "All About Music" from BLUE MOON CAFE:
Best thing I've read in many a day.
"All About Music" gave me the cries;
Made big old tears come to my eyes.
I'd never heard of Grayson Capps,
Nor any of those other Orleans chaps;
But Capps' story makes me cry.
He's quite a writer, and that's no lie!
They say that Capps went to Tulane.
When I was there, some called it "Jewlane".
"Jewlane" and "Jewcomb" there on Broadway,
Where all are welcome: Jew, Gentile, Black, Lesbian, Gay.
At night I walked down Natchez Alley
With a sexy beauty whose name was Sally.
She was a red-head from Fairhope, AL:
Just a typical beautiful Newcomb gal.
I rode the dog to get to school.
My mother said, "That Hardy's no fool!
Though we're not rich, he'll make it yet.
Of that I'm sure; I'm willin' to bet."
On the dog from Tulsa with a girl named Alice,
We both got off of the dog in Dallas
And went Downtown and shook the hand
Of Roger Craig, the "Rambler Man",
Who said he saw the man shoot John,
And L.H.O. was not the one.
He'd told Earl Warren what he'd seen, he said.
And 'twasn't long 'fore he was dead.
But what he said I've in my log
Entitled "For Those Who Ride the Dog."
